In this course, candidates will learn the essential functions of becoming a Protective Security Officer (PSO). Protective Security Officers are the front line of the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Services mission to protect federal facilities, tenants and visitors. PSOs are the most visible security presence and the first public contact with security most individuals have upon entering a Federal building.
Mr. Elliot J. Fix is a highly credentialed and results-driven training professional with over 19 years of experience in federal security operations, tactical instruction, and workforce compliance. As the Training Manager for Meritus Solutions Group, Mr. Fix leads the full spectrum of Protective Security Officer (PSO) training in accordance with the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Protective Service (FPS) requirements. He holds certifications as an Instructor-Trainer in Monadnock Expandable Baton, Defensive Tactics, OC Aerosols, Use of Force, and First Aid/CPR/AED, as well as NRA certifications for Pistol and Law Enforcement Patrol Rifle. He is also a certified instructor under DHS’s National Weapons Detection Training Program (NWDTP), delivering foundational, refresher, and advanced instruction with precision and compliance.
Mr. Fix is known for transforming complex tactical standards into practical, scenario-based instruction that builds confidence, capability, and compliance among PSOs. Leveraging his background as a U.S. Marine Corps Team Leader and primary weapons trainer, he instills operational discipline and mission readiness in every trainee. He designs custom curricula, manages all training documentation, and conducts performance-driven refresher courses that ensure Meritus Solutions Group’s PSOs meet or exceed all contractual standards. Mr. Fix’s instructional leadership, deep subject-matter expertise, and command presence make him a critical asset to Meritus’s and our clients.
